Our specialty

Asphalt Paving in Albuquerque, NM

New hot-mix asphalt for driveways, private roads, parking areas and commercial drives. We prepare the base, lay the mix at temperature and roll it to a tight, smooth finish with clean edges.

What a paving job includes

  • A site visit to check grade, drainage and what is under the surface
  • Removal of the old surface, dirt or vegetation where needed
  • A compacted aggregate base sized to the traffic it will carry
  • Hot-mix asphalt laid by machine, or by hand on tight areas
  • Rolling in passes while the mix is still hot
  • Compacted, clean edges and smooth transitions at the street and garage
  • A final walkthrough with care tips for the first weeks

How we pave

  1. Grade for water first. Every surface gets a crown or a pitch so rain and snowmelt run off instead of soaking in at the edges.
  2. Build the base. Loose sand gets aggregate base and compaction. Caliche that sits high gets cut to grade so the asphalt has an even thickness.
  3. Lay it hot. Dry air and wind cool asphalt fast at this elevation, so we pave in the warm part of the day and keep the rollers right behind the paver.
  4. Finish the edges. Edges are where asphalt breaks first. We compact them and keep them clean and straight.

Built for the high desert

Strong sun, sudden monsoon storms and freezing nights all work on asphalt here. A good job starts below the surface: the right base, the right slope and tight compaction. That is where we spend our time.

Asphalt or chip seal?

Hot-mix asphalt gives the smoothest, cleanest surface and handles tight turns and daily traffic. If you have a long gravel drive or ranch road and want to seal it for less, chip seal may be the better fit. We will walk you through both on the estimate.

Questions about asphalt paving

How thick will my asphalt be?

It depends on what drives on it. A home driveway and a lot with delivery trucks need different base and asphalt depths. Both are spelled out on your written estimate.

Can you pave over my old asphalt?

Sometimes. If the base is solid and the problems are on the surface, an overlay can work. If the base has failed, new asphalt on top will crack the same way. We will tell you which one you have.

When is paving season around Albuquerque?

Hot-mix paving needs warm air and warm ground, so most paving happens from spring into fall. You can call for an estimate any time of year and we will book the work for the right weather.
