Two surfaces, one crew

Smooth hot-mix, or the affordable upgrade from dirt.

Most of our work is one of these two. We will help you pick the one that fits the property, the traffic and the budget.

Hot-mix asphalt

Asphalt paving

A dense, smooth black surface laid hot over a compacted base, rolled tight and edged clean.

  • Smoothest ride and the cleanest look
  • Handles tight turns and daily traffic
  • Easy to sweep, stripe and sealcoat

Chip seal

Chip seal

Asphalt emulsion sprayed on, crushed stone spread and rolled in. It turns a dusty dirt or gravel road into a sealed, all-weather surface.

  • Usually costs less than hot-mix asphalt
  • Ends dust, washboard and mud ruts
  • Great for long drives and ranch roads

What the high desert does to pavement.

Pavement around Albuquerque fails in its own ways. We build every job around them.

Sun and UV

At this elevation the sun dries out the asphalt binder, turns black pavement gray and opens fine cracks. A regular sealcoat is the cheapest fix.

Monsoon runoff

Summer storms dump a lot of water fast. A surface that is not crowned or pitched loses its edges and base. We grade for water before we pave.

Freeze-thaw nights

Winter nights freeze, days warm up. Water in a crack freezes, expands and pries it open. Tight compaction and sealed cracks keep it out.

Caliche and sand

Some lots are loose sand, others hit hard caliche. Sand needs compacted base; high caliche gets cut to grade. A bad base is how driveways fail early.

What we do

Ten services, one local crew.

From a ranch road in the East Mountains to a retail lot on the West Side: paving, chip seal, sealcoating, striping and the repairs that keep a surface going.

Questions

Straight answers.

What is the difference between asphalt paving and chip seal?

Asphalt paving is hot-mix asphalt laid and rolled into a smooth, dense black surface. Chip seal is a sprayed layer of asphalt emulsion covered with crushed stone and rolled in. Chip seal usually costs less and suits long rural drives and ranch roads; asphalt is smoother and better for tight turns and daily traffic.

Do you give free written estimates?
